Spanish term

visión en perspectiva

Spanish to English Art/Literary Archaeology
Dentro de este estilo es importante destacar la inclinación que se observa en los muros; tal parece que los constructores trataron de evitar los efectos que produce la visión en perspectiva.

This is talking about Tulum, a Maya site. The buildings walls slope outwards as they rise.

"perspective view" is defined as:

A view of a three-dimensional image that portrays height, width, and depth. This allows the viewer to get a more realistic image or graphic.

So, I want to avoid that phrase. Perhaps I can just say the "effects of perspective"? (I don't understand why tilting the walls outwards would achieve that -- if anyone cares to explain, I'd appreciate it!)

Donald Scott Alexander Jun 27, 2008:
I agree that "perspective view" should be avoided, and I think that your suggestions "the effects of perspective" works just fine.

tried to cancel prespective distortion

according to the statement it appears to the observer as if the Mayan builders tried to manipulate natural perspective to evoke... (something)

perhaps straighter walls (?)...

Just a suggestion

Mónica--I think I'm going to close without grading, but thanks for trying to help. I'm certain that the term should be perspective and not perception. ¡un saludo!
