L’ossidazione è un processo elettro-chimico attraverso il quale atomi della matrice del metallo
producono ioni positivi, mentre le specie aggressive (O2, H2O, H+ ) vengono ridotti.
Nella fase di ossidazione, un movimento di ioni si produce attraverso la superficie del metallo. L’area dove appare l’ossidazione viene denominate “cella”. All’interno della cella, la porzione dove appare l’ossidazione è detta anodo, mentre la porzione dove avviene la riduzione prende il nome di catodo.
