Norwegian term

på strekk

Norwegian to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
Still plodding my way through this building spec for glass facades :-/. This section is on funksjons- og ytelseskrav, under which appears the following sentence: "Vertikallaster skal så langt som mulig tas på strekk."
Proposed translations (English)
3 +1 straight through/in series

Discussion

brigidm (asker) Jan 8, 2007:
Tensile strength/properties? I wonder if "på strekk" means that the vertical load capacity of the glass facades should be calculated in terms of tensile strength/properties? Found a useful glossary in this connection:http://www.uib.no/ood/Undervis/Kull2004/Grunnleggende_mekani...

straight through/in series

the vertical loads must as far as possible be calculated straight through (I read that as from top to bottom)

I don't envy you this job ;-))

not neccessarilly calculated...... it could also be: be seen - but that requires a bit of rewriting
Note from asker:
Thank for your sympathy, Tore... So you interpret "tas" here to mean "calculated"? That's the most obvious meaning to you (with your technical background)? Just trying to narrow down the options here.
