My guess is it's either they cross over or bolt or something like that but I can't be sure . . .

Asker: Not really, it's an exhibition in a bull ring and as far as I know it's all on the same level so no steps. From the context it seems they're referring to different kinds of mishaps and accidents, hence my stab in the dark of bolting or crossing over . ..
