French term

trame

French to English Tech/Engineering Architecture Prefabricated housing
Il produit en particulier en 1945-1947 divers modèles de pavillons, sur des trames variables de 8 x 8 m, 8 x 12 m, 6 x 6 m etc.

I'm not sure how to translate "trames" in this sentence.
Can anyone help?

I've found this definition in French: Maillage, quadrillage d'un plan d'architecture ou d'urbanisme

But I don't know what that would be in English.

I'm sure that there is lots in the gloss on this. Can trames also be a metal framework - a plan + literally

Please check the gloss!

I would presume that in this case it's a framework / template / model......

Note from asker:
I did check the gloss. I thought of framework, but wasn't sure, which was why I asked.

I'm pretty sure this must be in the glossaries somewhere already, but for good measure here's a definition:

module, building module, planning module - A standard unit of length which is repeated many times and controls the sizes of components and the layout of a building. A module can be small, like the present standard (or fundamental basic) module of 100mm. Other modules have been used ... Japanese buildings have a standard module, used since long before European influence, of the tatami floor mat (6x3 Japanese feet), with room sizes described as a number of mats ...
[Scott/Penguin Dict of Bldg]

In modern buildings, "module" often refers to the distances between columns, or the length of a cladding module, window frame, etc.
