German term

ich veranlasse dazu

Homework / test German to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Interviewee description
From:

She was prepared to confront pain - **which I had arranged (???)** - and declared herself, a survivor, ready [to answer my questions].

- at which point the interview starts.

Your help is appreciated - TIA!

Discussion

Jalapeno Apr 19, 2006:
Just a quick note: In my opinion, the "sie" in "sie bereitet Schmerzen" refers to "diese Suche", not to the interviewee.

I make her do this

The search causes pain and the interviewer makes the interviewee do this search.
Peer comment(s):

agree Jalapeno : Exactly. I wanted to give asker the chance to 'get' the sentence herself and one have one of those lovely penny-dropping moments, but there you go... ;-) // Don't worry, my comment was actually meant humorously... ;-)
