Discussion

marina hennies Jan 16, 2010:
In any case I prefer 'device' to 'apparatus'

marina hennies Jan 16, 2010:
OK, let's see what our colleagues decide
Rosana M. (asker) Jan 16, 2010:
That´s all the context I have, though!
marina hennies Jan 16, 2010:
Possibly... that's why I think more context would help
David Drysdale (X) Jan 15, 2010:
Just a thought: If you're referring to something "specific" you might say, this device or that apparatus . . However, I believe if you're looking for an all inclusive word or title . . "Instruments" would be an ideal word to follow with a colon and a long list.

Devices

Hi again, Rosana.

The word I always use in this situation is 'devices' - it covers a lot of ground and I feel particularly comfortable with it within a technical capacity. Best of Luck :)

You're right - there's no specific word which can be chosen. Any one of the first three answers would fit in my opinion. Cheers :)
Note from asker:
I did think of "devices" at first, but then wondered if there wouldn't be a better word... Now I´m kind of confused with all the different suggestions! :-)

No worries... I thought it was amusing. I know several Davids - even my first son's middle name is David - Samuel David. Cheers :)
