I'm revising a translation done by someone else. Here's the context:
Taglio della sovrastruttura in conglomerato
bituminoso.
Taglio verticale degli strati nei punti di ripresa in senso
trasversale rispetto all'asse della carreggiata,
profondità di taglio da 3 a 6 cm.
"Punti di ripresa" was translated "acceleration areas", which can't be right. I'm thinking "around joints in the road", but am not sure.
Thanks.

daywork joint
a common alternative to Jim's suggestion, i.e. the point where they pick up again when work restarts.

joints in the concrete
I think this is what it means. One layer of concrete is cast and then another next to it. This is the interface between the two, the joint if you like.
