Apparently these are ridges left after painting:

Per eliminare eventuali scalini di vernice, ripetere i punti 11;12;18 e 19.

Has anybody heard a good term for this? Also referred to as a "gradino"

Ridges That's possible; however, it's used elsewhere in the text as the translation of "creste di vernice".
My question is intended to find out whether there's a technical term in English for "scalino/gradino" specific to painting. Absent that, I may go with "ridges" in the end.

Ho visto questo articolo nel quale parla degli scalini... sono tutti questi puntini che appariscono prima di spruzzare o dopo se si è mal verniciato. Mi sono chiesta comme si direbbe in spagnolo, repelo, (moteado pure) e poi l'ho cercato in inglese.
