All,
I am translating specifications for the supply of vehicle glass by a manufacturer of emergency vehicles.
Under the headline "Prüfung", I found the following sentence:
Bei der mechanischen Bearbeitung, einbringen von Ausschnitten und Bohrungen, können sich auf der Glasoberfläche kleine Ansammlungen von nicht sichtbaren Glassplittern (fachlich „Glasflöhe“) bilden.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks
Peter

If you have been cutting glass than your fingers will be carrying very fine invisible glass shards which you might transfer to your eye. This is not good. Glass cutting is a precision operation so keep your work area clean and your hands clean to manage t
Glass Glass can only be engraved. After engraving, you MUST run a scrubber sponge on the surface to remove the micro-shards the laser created in the glass.

fleabite
"FLEABITES or FLEA BITES: Often grossly overused. This term is meant to mean a tiny nick on the glass (typically found on rims) about the size of a flea's bite. Too small to reasonablly measure. You can usually feel these with your fingernail or find them with a magnifying glass, though some with good eyesight will see them more readily than others. They are the type of thing that you will not notice when in use or display."

Yorkshireman
: Fleabites, also in the glaze of porcelain or china, are almost invisible chips caused by flaking or chipping. The simplest test for fleabites on rims is to pass the tip of your tongue over the rim. The term is not used to describe the particles.
