Medical - Medical: Health Care
French term or phrase: investigation
Translating a study on the effect of an intervention programme (dietary changes and physical activity) on the cardiometabolic risk profile of obese teenagers. In the first meeting with a doctor before the intervention programme begins, the sentence reads 'Le médecin confirmait l'investigation nécessaire pour chacun d'eux et s’assurait que le participant répondait aux critères d’inclusion'. But he 'confirmed the investigation necessary for them' doesn't sound right - could it mean he verified what tests needed to be done?

agree  nweatherdon: The part about "répondait aux critères d’inclusion" might suggest it's a bit more like a study, or at least specific grouping. "Investigation" is focused on the individual though, so "study" per se does not seem best in that part of the sentence

neutral  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: The doctor confirmed that the investigation was necessary etc. Not necessarily tests, as it could simply be answers to a questionnaire.
