I got into the habit of translating any interesting work (fiction or non-fiction) that I wanted to fully understand, and I found that translating (forcing yourself to rewrite the sentence in a new language) is an amazing tool for enhancing comprehension. I have translated very difficult books as well as typical workplace documents. The former include philosophy, sociology and anthropology works, while the latter are most often works related to environmental and energy issues.
