Swedish term

trall

Swedish to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
Is there another meaning for the word "trall". This is for a company that manufactures brackets and fasteners, etc. I understand "trall" as being a type of wood grating, but it makes no sense in the following sentences:

"Vårt byggsortiment är anpassat för flera typer av byggnationer i olika material som exempelvis trä, trall, stål och betong."

Tråd-och trallskruv

Deane Goltermann Oct 18, 2021:
Trall in Swedish When my neighbor and the professionals who installed it call their expansive wrap-around backyard deck as 'trall' in the local language, my understanding is naturally that trall refers to much more than 'entryway/small deck.' This is confirmed by repeated visits (for other purposes) to the nearby hardware/lumber stores I visit. Trall does not refer to fiberboard since it is exclusively used for exterior (weather-resistant) purposes and is mostly impregnated wood (not good for interior use) or larch.
As for 'trallskruv,' you can do some looking based on this reference ( https://vsbyggskruv.se/en/our-brands/turbo-trallskruv/ ) -- 'decking screw.'

Trall in Swedish normally means an entryway/small deck or stairs leading up to the main door to a home.

Something other than duckboard/wood grating I know that it's normally wood decking/grating/duckboard...but it makes no sense in the context of the document, where the company manufactures fasteners and screws for wood, sheet metal, wood, concrete and "duckboard"?
Also Tråd- och trallskruv" makes me think of "fibreboard/duckboard screws"

Wondering if "trall" is some time of "fibreboard".

outdoor wood flooring/decking

The IKEA product Runnen is sold as outdoor decking in EN and 'trall' in Swedish (for whatever that is worth.

Other references, like the second one below, show outdoor flooring and such. Check these against this Swedish definition I found.

agree Michael Ellis : I'd go for "decking" which is popular, if pernicious, in UK.

Thanks Michael! When the locals start selling 'trall deck,' I have to laugh at their 'nysvenska.'
agree SafeTex : Yes, if to cross muddy areas or possibly in a bathroom, "duckboard" would be better but in this context, it has to be what you said
