“narrative” + rephrasing = “собственное МЕСТО в идейном пространстве.”

I’m not saying that "идейное пространство“ equals “narrative,” even though “идея“ may equal “narrative” in certain contexts. What I mean to say is that “российский консерватизм“ is this Party’s novel narrative.

Funny how our “translator” brain works: when experiencing difficulties translating from language X into language Y we tend to forget some words in Y that are difficult to translate back into X. Chances are that these are the exact same words!

The buzz word “narrative” in today’s usage is very hard to translate into RU, with the context ruling the roost, but isn’t it a political party’s NARRATIVE after all that makes it stand out “в идейном пространстве” страны?

My shot at translation of the whole sentence (although the Russian seems messy to me): “Russian conservatism has become / became the crown of the longstanding evolution of the Party driven by the realization / understanding of the parameters of the Russian political culture along which to seek its own narrative.”
Note from asker:
Thanks for that great idea. I love it when people come up with a different perspective on a phrase like this. (Unfortunately I know my client in this case prefers things to be closer to the source text, so I couldn't use it this time...)
