'moyennant' sort of means 'in return for'

No, no, I didn't mean the SENTENCE was wrong — just the way you chose to split it up! :-)
The point simply being that the 'somme' has no specific connection with the 'moyennant quittance'
As you can see, it would have been worth giving the whole sentence in the first place! ;-)
