woman who seeks out designer-label clothing etc.

(or '...is addicted to...'!)

The use of the specific name 'Mabel' is not meaningful, but this type of rhyming doublet is common in EN idioms, cf. expressions like 'trolley dolly' (= an air-hostess)

Do note that I only said 'woman' because of the use of the woman's name 'Mabel' — the sexist assumption that this might only apply to women may or may not have been the authoor's deliberate intention.

Thanks, Sheila! Oh yes, LOL!
agree Yvonne Gallagher : yes Mabel rhymes with label but also could hint at a fashion "maven" //"maven" originally meant expert" but aligned with fashion just means someone who always wants to keep up with trends (self-proclaimed expert sometimes!), who lives and breathes fashion
