English term

nice shoulders

Non-PRO English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters nice shoulders
Tell me exactly why you think I shouldn't marry a kind, smart, loving man who has a good job and nice shoulders.

Is there any implication here? or she meant it literally. No idea about the guy shape.

Thanks in advance,

Thank you all.

With Yvonne ... ... on all points

@ Asker I agree with Tony's last point (but NOT AT ALL with the first 2). For me "nice shoulders" when said by a woman = broad shoulders (literally and figuratively) ...generally regarded as a positive trait in a man. Broad shoulders=strong. So he has a "good job and nice/broad shoulders" so a good partner for her in life as he will be able to support her

@ Asker I think this might be taken 2 ways:
1) She is indirectly seeing that she hasn't yet seen him totally naked = they haven't had sex yet
or
2) More euphemistically (depending on how it is said) that he has nice (er...let me think...) shoulders! I.e. avoiding saying something more directly revealing.

There might be a situation where the listener knows she has already seen him with his shirt off (working in the garden, say), but the speaker doesn't want the listener to know if they've gone any further yet...

Also of course, broad shoulders (literally and figuratively)are generally regarded as a positive trait in a man.

I think she means it literally. It's just a humorous, throwaway remark, and she's chosen a random part of his body.
