Dutch term
civiele ploeg/medewerker
Dutch to English
Tech/Engineering
Telecom(munications)

civil worker
Tony Webb started hauling cable while working for VisionStream in 1992 before going out on his own in 2002. Starting with Telstra over ten years ago as a basic civil worker Tony worked his way through the ranks...

: Not happy with the term "civil worker" as it can also mean civil servant. It is my feeling that the meaning of the term is not sufficiently defined for it to be used unambiguously.

Hmm, well, I suppose I could agree that 'all guv cable layers are civil workers, but not all civil workers are cable layers'

utility team worker
Utility construction companies for gas, electricity and other services have two types of "outdoor" workers: team workers and lone workers. The following reference applies to lone workers:

I have not been able to find a reference for team workers but it is my experience that this is what they are called.

: zero hits for utility team worker (can't find it anywhere, not even in your link) - also, Skanska isn't a civil branch of the guv, I don't think.
