What translation project are you working on right now?
I have been doing some interpretation work (2 or 3 times/week) and the occasional translation of documents, emails and resumes. I've been taking advantage of this somewhat quiet time to work on some long overdue personal projects and also to network with colleagues. The learning never ends! (edited) It was a busy, but fun summer for me. I worked as a teacher, translator and interpreter for Niagara College, in Ontario, Canada. I had the pleasure of getting to know 51 wonderful school teachers from all over Brazil and I learned a great deal from them. I have been working on a translation (Eng. to Portuguese) of 3 guides for Niagara College, in Ontario, Canada (over 60 000 words), plus several PowerPoints. The material will be used this summer during a 6-week teacher training program attended by 100 Brazilian teachers at 2 locations: Niagara College and Fanshawe College, in London, Ontario. And I will be one of the program facilitators! Very exciting stuff! I'm also very pleased to count on the expertise of Mario Freitas as my revisor and I hope this is the first of many projects we will do together.
(edited) I spent the weekend working as an interpreter at a very interesting conference (Healing with Honey Bees) in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. There was a Brazilian doctor (Mikhael Marques) who gave 3 talks on his work in Brazil with apitherapy. He talked about the prevention and treatment of thyroid disorders, cancer and chronic fatigue syndrome. I will never kill a bee again!
(edited) Presently working as an interpreter for InCommunities, located in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The assignments are very varied and include face to face consecutive and simultaneous whispered interpretation, as well as telephone interpretation. 1 user
(edited) I have been working as a Personal Translator and Interpreter since September 2017 for Professor Marcia Araujo, from UFPE (Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil). Marcia is now in Canada as a Visiting International Scholar at Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario. I have translated her curriculum vitae, work plan proposals and email correspondence between her and Brock University Professors. I have also assisted her with her work permit application. I have interpreted for Marcia on several occasions at academic lectures and presentations for large audiences. This work will end around May 2019.
