History & overview

Originally developed in 1993 for Windows 3.1, Déjà Vu (DV) has grown over the years to become the most versatile, user-friendly CAT tool available for Windows operating systems. Less popular among agency and corporate users than the current market leader, SDL Trados, it is nonetheless probably the most widespread tool among freelance translators. The current generation of the software, Déjà Vu X (DVX) offers many sophisticated options for quality control, interoperability, collaboration, multi-lingual project management, etc.

Versions and upgrade policy

Trial versions

A complete copy of the DVX software can be downloaded from Atril's web site. Without an activation code or licensed dongle, the software will function as the Editor version after installation. When the full version of the software is downloaded, it is possible to request an activation code at no charge, which offers 30 days of complete functionality for the software. The default version for the test license is DVX Professional; test licenses for the Workgroup version are available by request to support@atril.com.

Versions of the program

There are four versions of Déjà Vu X: Editor (free), Standard, Professional (the usual choice for freelancers) and Workgroup (the choice of advanced users, LSPs and companies involved in complex projects and outsourcing). A comparison of features in the various versions can be found on the Atril web site.

Atril's upgrade policy

Upgrades to the software are generally free.
