Bio:I am a commercial translator based in Copenhagen, where I have lived since 2004. I translate primarily from Danish, German, and Swedish into English. I earned a Ph.D. in medieval German literature from the University of California at Berkeley in 2005 (dissertation on Wo...lfram von Eschenbach's Parzival). Previously I had completed Berkeley M.A. degrees both in Scandinavian literature (1998) and in German literature (1999). While in Berkeley I completed a graduate-level course in translation with Professor Winfried Kudszus of the German Department for which I translated a section of Ernst Jünger's World War I memoir Das Wäldchen 125 from German into English. I have lived in Germany and Sweden for several years respectively, studying medieval and modern literature at the University of Freiburg and Uppsala University and working with Professor Ingrid Kasten's working group for graduate students in medieval German literature at the Free University of Berlin as a Fulbright Graduate Fellow for an academic year (2003-2004) during the dissertation-writing phase of my Berkeley Ph.D. studies. I taught German and Swedish as a Graduate Student Instructor in Berkeley and have taught upper-secondary-level English and German in Denmark and upper-secondary level English in Sweden.
