My professional background is in the field of Food Processing Technology, along with my certification in translation from the Association of Scientific and Technical Translators of Serbia, Belgrade.

Born in Vojvodina, Serbia (former Yugoslavia) with a Hungarian mother and a Serbian father, I grew up bilingual, simultaneously speaking Serbian (Serbo-Croat) and Hungarian. Though I was not aware of that then, it was obviously the foundation for what I do today.

My love of foreign languages emerged when I attended a primary school: within the foreign languages curriculum there were English (as the first foreign language) and Russian (the second one). I continued learning English during my high school years, and I also learned German and Latin.

The interest in nutrition science and food processing led me to study at the department of Food Technology and I graduated from Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. During my professional career as a food technology engineer there were a lot of contacts with foreigners, and I had to use my knowledge of English actively. While working in one company, in addition to other tasks, I had to translate some technical documentation for food industry, and it turned out that I was very good at that. That was the turning point of my career. Naturally inclined to learning foreign languages, I wanted to improve my knowledge of English. After some advanced English language courses, I attended one-year specialized course for scientific, technical and court translation for the English language. Upon completion (passing all the necessary exams, starting from Language science and translation theory, Economics, Social systems, Mechanical engineering, Civil engineering, Electrical and electronics and Court translation and interpretation), I got my translation certification (Diploma of Scientific and Technical Translator from and into English).

I am inclined to the concept of lifelong learning, and I have a lot of interests, starting from nutrition, psychology, medicine, IT, cooking, handicraft, photography… Learning something new also expands the vocabulary, and this can lead to better results in working as a translator.

I have a passion for translation, and I have been working as a freelance translator for more than ten years. I work in rather varied fields of expertise, like nutrition science, food processing, IT, medical texts (general), marketing, psychology, etc. I would like to mention one of my favourite working platforms – GENGO. Here is my Gengo profile:
