Source text - Russian Когда мне минуло шесть лет, произошло событие, коренным образом изменившее всю мою жизнь: у меня родилась сестра.
До ее появления мое маленькое "я" невольно казалось мне центром мира. Казалось, что мама, и няня, и наша тесная квартирка -- все это создано исключительно для меня. Конечно, я этого не думала словами, но таково было мое мироощущение. Мама вообще была "всем". Жизни вне ее я себе не представляла. Я также инстинктивно требовала ее присутствия и любви, как воздуха, еды и сна. И той любви и ласки, которую мне мама давала, мне было достаточно, потому что иной я и не знала. Однако мама хотя и любила меня, конечно, но, в то время, как я родилась, слишком еще была полна своей личной драмой с отцом, своей молодой жизнью, так что я занимала в ее душе второстепенное место. А сестра -- может быть, "благодаря" своей болезненности, тревоге за ее жизнь -- заняла сразу первенствующее место в мамином сердце. Мама полюбила ее страстно, буквально не могла надышаться на нее; и вот чутким детским сердцем я поняла, какая может быть настоящая мамина любовь, и поняла, что у меня этой любви нет, что мне надо довольствоваться остатками. Меня не обижали, не наказывали, меня только -- отодвигали. Я все время чувствовала себя лишней: мне не было места в маминых объятиях, в них всегда лежала сестричка. Я все время слышала слова: "Ты большая, уступи, отдай, отодвинься, слезь..."
Так или иначе, много мне пришлось в жизни, как и всякому, видеть горя: терять близких, хоронить дорогие чувства, но этих первых уроков горя, тоски и одиночества, которые испытало мое семилетнее сердце, я не забуду никогда.
Translation - French J’allais sur mes sept ans quand s’est produit l’événement qui a complètement bouleversé ma vie : la naissance de ma sœur.
Jusqu’à son arrivée, je pensais inconsciemment que ma petite personne était le centre du monde. Il me semblait que ma mère, ma nounou et notre appartement exigu avaient été créés uniquement à mon intention. Bien sûr, je n’aurais pas pu l’exprimer avec des mots, mais c’était ainsi que je ressentais les choses. D’une façon générale, ma mère était tout pour moi. Je ne m'imaginais pas vivre sans elle ; j’exigeais instinctivement sa présence et son amour, au même titre que l'air, la nourriture et les rêves. L’amour et la tendresse que je recevais de ma mère me suffisaient, car c’était tout ce que je connaissais. Ma mère m’aimait, naturellement, mais comme à ma naissance elle était trop occupée par son drame personnel avec mon père et par sa petite vie, je n’occupais dans son esprit qu’une place secondaire. Ma sœur, en revanche – peut-être à cause de sa santé fragile et des craintes pour sa vie – occupa tout de suite le premier plan dans le cœur de ma mère. Maman l’aimait passionnément. Elle était en permanence aux petits soins pour elle. C’est ainsi que, dans mon petit cœur d’enfant, j'ai compris ce que pouvait être le véritable amour d’une mère, tout comme j'ai compris que cet amour n’était pas pour moi et que je devais me contenter des restes. Je n’étais ni maltraitée, ni punie ; seulement mise de côté. Je me sentais toujours de trop. Il n’y avait pas de place pour moi dans les bras de ma mère, qui étaient constamment occupés par ma petite sœur. Combien de fois ai-je entendu ces mots : « Tu es grande, laisse-moi tranquille, pousse-toi, écarte-toi, va-t-en… »
D’une façon ou d’une autre, comme tout un chacun, j’ai connu bien des peines dans ma vie : la perte de proches, la fin de sentiments profonds. Mais ces premières expériences du chagrin, de la tristesse et de la solitude, vécues avec mon cœur de sept ans, je ne les oublierai jamais.
