Professional journey

I began my
journey of working in the languages field in 2004. That same year I was awarded
the Bachelor’s Degree in English and French Literature and Language within the
Faculty of Letters of “A. I. Cuza” University of Iasi.

During
the university years, I also took classes of Italian and Spanish and obtained a
Certificate in Italian language (intermediary level) and the “Diploma Basico de
Español como lengua Extranjera” – DELE [Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign
Language], or DELE, issued by the Spanish Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the
Spanish Ministry of Education and Science].

 In 2004, I
obtained the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (Council of Europe
Level C2*) awarded by University of Cambridge, ESOL Examinations. [Level C2
Proficiency is the highest level qualification provided by Cambridge Assessment
English and shows that learners have mastered English to an exceptional level. It
is focused on Level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for
Languages (CEFR)].

I continued my Master studies until 2006 at the
same university, but in a different area, that of Human Resources Management,
which would build the foundation for later becoming specialized in translations
related to the economics, human resources, management, and marketing field.

In 2004, I started working as a teacher of English at “Carmen Sylva” School and
“Elena Cuza” School in Iasi, teaching English to children from the primary and
secondary school, and the next year I continued to teach English at “Octav
Bancilă” High School of Iași. In 2005, while I was a school teacher, I coordinated
and managed the Socrates project “The Popular Literature, a Common European
History”, project in collaboration with other European countries.

In June
2005, I was awarded the “Translator Authorization” (Autorizație de Traducător)
(no. 13109) issued by the Ministry of Justice of Romania for
English/French/Romanian languages, authorizing me to provide translation and
interpreting services to all legal institutions and bodies of Romania.

From 2005 until 2011 I worked at Actadoc Translation Company as an English/French/Romanian
sworn translator and interpreter: translation from English, French to Romanian
and vice versa (official documents, websites, articles, texts, manuals
belonging to different fields: education, medicine, economy, technique,
literature, history, law, official papers etc.) An important part of my
activity included simultaneous/consecutive interpretation from English and
French to Romanian and vice versa. I was also a Public relations manager at
“Eurolenguas” center of foreign languages for two years, being responsible with
organizing the courses of foreign languages and coordinating and supervising
the entire activity within the center.

In 2006, I
attended the course for English teachers “Language, Methodology and Culture” at
the “English Language Centre” in Brighton and Hove, UK, being the beneficiary
of a Socrates – Comenius scholarship.

In 2011, I
attended the course “International Summer School on the Americas”, the Economics
Seminar, organized by the University of Graz, Seggau, Austria.

In 2010,
in the same spirit of constant learning, I decided to continue my studies in
the field I was already experienced in, in a desire to perfect my knowledge and
skills in terminology and interpreting. Between 2010 and 2012, I attended the
courses of Master in Translations and Terminology within “A. Cuza” University. I
was the beneficiary of an Erasmus scholarship during the period September 2011-
February 2012 at Autonomous University of Barcelona, in the specialization
Translation and Interpreting, for English, French and Spanish languages. This
great opportunity helped me perfect my knowledge of Spanish, English and
French, experience new perspectives and grow considerably both professionally
and as a person.

Since
2011 until now, I have been working in the linguistic field as a freelance
certified translator, proofreader and quality manager in the life-sciences,
medical, legal and marketing field, providing my services to top translation
companies in the world, the end clients being international pharmaceutical
companies, medical laboratories, legal companies, clinical research institutes,
international airlines, American retail corporations, travel and hospitality
companies, market research, consulting, risk management companies and many
more.

In 2012, I
have successfully passed the Linguist Expert Certification Program of
Transperfect Family of Companies, the largest provider of translation-related
technology and services in the world. The certification process involves a
series of assessments intended to measure the linguist’s degree of
professionalism, comprehension of ethics, and proficiency in translation or
interpretation in a specific language and fields. I have been collaborating
with them for 8 years already, as one of their preferred Romanian linguists.
