Source text - Korean
Translation - English At the end of the sixteenth century Netherlands, although it had a small population and has always been a low lying country, became a trading power with its ships competing with other much larger countries. I would like to see how this small country could accumulate wealth while competing against larger Western powers.
The Dutch differed from other western European countries in that they prioritized property over monarchism. They deposed their monarchy based upon practical considerations such as taxes rather than on ideals such as Republicanism. Feudalism was inefficient because it placed too much power in the hands of the King while a republic can be more responsive to the people. This allowed more freedom for commerce which gave birth to new systems of government and trade.
The Netherlands was created as a modern nation which allowed for new financial innovations. In the middle of the seventeenth century, the Dutch had created the concept of loans and a centralized banking system one hundred years before the British created one. Most other European countries thought of currency as only being made of physical notes while the Dutch used its new system of invisible currency. These systems allowed currency to flow smoother into and out of the Netherlands enriching the Dutch from all walks of life.
In the Netherlands, credit was used to stabilize its financial system and to establish a system based upon reliability and impartiality. Even while the Netherlands government was at war with the Spanish, the Spanish government could still use banks in the Netherlands. Property became more important than nationalism and Dutch trading vessels valued their customers property over their own lives. For example, a Dutch ship stuck in the arctic refused to raid its cargo for supplies as it was not their own property. As a result countries as far away as America opted to use Dutch banks and stock markets.
Although the Netherlands is a small country, historically it rose to power by its innovations with national identity and systems of commerce. Their republic, built upon practical considerations rather than idealism, allowed it to create new inventions such as modern banking systems, stock markets and corporations. As a result, the citizens of the Netherlands’ lives were improved rather than just the royalty and nobility. The Dutch idea of valuing property over nationalism that allowed it to gain the trust to build a system of commerce prefigures the current trends towards globalism today. The current system of global commerce and finance is based upon the innovations that took place in the Netherlands hundreds of years ago.

My name is Gabi Kim, a Korean citizen, and I am looking for a reliable agency. I hold both a bachelor’s degree in international commercial relations and political science. I used to work in Agriculture R&D for the Korean Government Institute and I have translated many research materials such as a manual for the Chicago carbon stock market, the British carbon stock structure, and other similar materials. While working as an international marketing manager in a manufacturer which produces special purpose vehicles, I wrote various manuals and brochures for vehicles. Furthermore, I have translated a technical analysis of ceramic chip equipment which examines fluid flow in a vacuum cylinder.
Through my work experience, I have built up more practical, intuitive and specialized linguistic expressions which I can use ti help customers to understand translated documents. I am using Fluency Now as a CAT tool and I am accustomed to working during the British Summer time zone despite living Korea. I can type about 3,500~4,000 words a day on average. If you have further questions and inquires, please don't hesitate to contact me. I look forward to the opportunity of working with you.
