Bio
My subject matter expertise lies in the areas of educational materials, legal documents, laws and regulations, policy documents, news articles, governmental correspondence and records, and environmental documents. My fluency in the German language and extensive knowledge of German culture were developed when I lived and attended school in Munich as a Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program Scholar. My bachelor’s degree is from the University of Kansas, where I majored in Political Science and Germanic Languages and Literatures, and I subsequently earned my Juris Doctor degree from the School of Law at the University of Michigan, and my master’s degree in German Studies from the University of Missouri. For over eight years, I have taught German language and culture in both secondary and postsecondary educational institutions. I currently serve as President of the Missouri Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German. During my twelve year legal career, I worked extensively in the area of government regulation of the environment, including hazardous materials regulation and clean up, clean water law, and mining and reclamation law. My legal practice also included enforcement of state election laws, state regulation of various professions (e.g. medicine, pharmacy, and social work), and state regulation of the telecommunications and electric utility industries. When you work with me, you can expect careful attention to your specific translation needs, strict adherence to deadlines, precise grammatical usage, and language that is true to the original. Sample translations will be provided upon request.
