Faccio una smorfia alla Jim Carrey e, come per istinto, la treccia- Kobra ha uno scatto di coda. Ho un sussulto. Porca di una T. Oltre ad essere bambina prodigio – ballerina di fama internazionale all'età di quattordici anni e promettente cantante di musica classica indiana- questa ha anche gli occhi dietro alla testa!
«Allora lo spettacolo è fissato per martedì», annuncia la Mutti. È Stata lei ad organizzare il grande evento.
Visto che la Kousin era stata invitata dall’Ambasciata Indiana a Roma a partecipare al Festival dell’India, la Mutti ha pensato bene di approfittare dell’occasione per farsi bella agli occhi di quelli dell’ ICGEB, dove lavora mio Pater, proponendo una serata di ballo e canto indiano della nipotina fenomeno.
Mio Pater è un Mito. Un Kranione. Lavora all’Istituto di Biotecnologie di Trieste. Genetica molecolare e tutta quella roba UFO che ci salvera.
I miei, nativi di Bangalore, nell’India centro-meridionale, sono in giro per il mondo da quasi trent’anni. Prima di venire in Italia hanno vissuto negli States e poi a Dussseldorf, dove sono nata e vissuta per quattro anni. Che sfiga che non essere nata e cresciuta a Los Angeles. Avrei potuto incontrare Johnny Depp e nessuno mi avrebbe fatto domande del kaTzo tipo:
«Come mai parli Kosi bene l’italiano?».

My Pater is a Legend. A Brainiac. He works at the Biotechnology Institute in Trieste. Molecular Genetics and all that UFO jazz that will save us all.
My parents, Bangalore natives, from the central southern part of India, have been travelling the world for almost 30 years. Before coming to Italy they lived in the States and then in Dusseldorf, where I was born and lived for four years. What a bummer to not be born and to have grown up in Los Angeles. I could have met Johnny Depp and no one would have asked me stoopid questions like:
“How come you speak Italian so well?”
I always want to answer these Nullheads with: Why? Is being able to speak fluently in Dante’s language something only white people can do?
“Do you miss your country?”
What country? I grew up here, singing all Cristina D’Avena’s crap. And when I go with the parentals to visit the tigers of Mompracem I have to stuff myself up to my eyeballs with anti-malaria and anti-cholera medicine, because I don’t have natural immunity.

Per il lancio di una fragranza “Pericolosa”, sofisticata e dark, un evento (e una mostra) “Toujours Chic”. C’eravate anche voi. Tutte con un unico dress code: L’abito nero.
Givenchy e Grazia: un mix perfetto tra passato, presente e future seguendo la “scia” della nuovissima fragranza Givenchy, Dahlia Noir. Tutto il cuore del profumo è racchiuso nel mistero: in natura il fiore non possiede aroma natural e la creatività di Riccardo Tisci ha volute trasformare questa “assenza” in una tangibile, sofisticata “essenza”, near e vellutata come la mussola lieve che il couturier sceglie per i suoi abiti da sogno.
E cosa c’è di meglio di un super-party per festiggiare una fragranzs cosi sofisticata? Il “debutto” di Dahlia Noir è avvenuto a Milano, con un evento nello store Sephora di corso Vittorio Emmanuele, in concomitanza con la mostra Toujours Chic, una “galleria” di copertine vintage e servizi fotografici d’epoca di «Grazia» con gli splendidi abiti di alta sartoria di Hubert de Givenchy. Uno straordinario, emozionante tuffo nel passato tra gli abiti creati dalla Maison nei decennia scorsi, per raccontare dagli anni ’50 in poi lo stile Givencgy (ricordate Audrey Hepburn con i meravigliosi abiti della maison?) Un’occassione per conoscere il profumo e scoprire, attraverso le immagini storiche di «Grazia», il glam dell’alta sartorial respirando (letteralmente grazie alle “nuvole” di Dahlia Noir!) lo splendore dell’epoca. Dress code della serata? Rigorosamente nero! E voi lettrici avete partecipato in tantissime. Per ringraziarvi, abbiamo messo a disposizione un set fotografico che riproduceva in piccolo quelli very dei servizi di mod che vedete sul giornale. Grazie al nostro fotografo è stato possibile farvi diventare covergirl di «Grazia», con il logo rigorosamente nero come Dahlia. Insomma, tutte “toujours chic”! Perche è proprio l’eleganza il punto di forza del profumo, di cui è testimonial la modella-muse Maria Carla Boscono: nell’Eau de Parfum, gli accenti poudrè evocano la dolcezza femminile in una composizione a base di rosa, iris e mimosa arricchite, infine, da aroma legnosi come sandolo e patchouli. Un’essenza racchiusa nel raffiniato flacone squadrato del cap nero laccato, disegnato dal “guru” Fabien Baron. La versione Eua de Toilette esprime le stesse note originali, ma virate in sentori più fruttati: possiamo riconoscere il mandarino, il cedro e la pesca, una miscela esaltata dall’impertinenza del pepe rosa che è anche il colore che differenzia il flacone; il jus si chiude con note vanigliate corrette dal legno di sandal. Pronte a farvi inebriare? Cosi, tra champagne, abiti da cocktail e lettrici-cover girl per una sera, il lancio del nuovo profumo Dahlia Noir è stato il momento ideale per riportare alla memoria il significato di haute couture, ravvivandolo con un accento contemporaneo e modern. Perché se è vero che le mode passano, la classe è qualcosa che rimane fuori da ogni restrizione temporale!

Givenchy and Grazia - a perfect mix of past, present and future, following the “trail” of the brand new fragrance by Givenchy, Dahlia Noir. The heart of the perfume is shrouded in mystery. In nature, the flower does not have a natural scent and the creative Riccardo Tisci wanted to transform this “absence” into a tangible, sophisticated “essence”, silky and black like the soft muslin that the couturier chooses for his dreamy creations.
And what better way to celebrate such a sophisticated fragrance, than a fabulous soiree? The “debut” of Dahlia Noir took place in Milan, with an event in Sephora on Corso Vittorio Emmanuele. At the same time, the show Toujours Chic was going on, showcasing a “gallery” of Grazia’s vintage covers and old photo shoots that contain the magnificent haute couture dresses of Hubert de Givenchy. It was an extraordinarily touching stroll through the past amongst the dresses created by the fashion house in the last few decades, which recounted the style of Givenchy from the 50s onwards. Who can forget Audrey Hepburn in the wonderful gowns of the fashion house? It was an occasion to be introduced to the perfume and to discover, via the historic pictures of Grazia, the glamour of haute couture, by surrounding yourself with the beauty the era, literally thanks to the fine mist of Dahlia Noir that permeated the air.
The dress code de rigueur? Strictly black! Many of Grazia’s readers took part in the event. To thank you all, we provided a photo studio to reproduce, in some small way, the real fashion shoots that you see in magazines. Thanks to our photographer, we were able to turn you into Grazia cover girls, with our logo in precise black, just like Dahlia Noir. It goes without saying that all of you were toujours chic!
The elegance of the fragrance is truly its most attractive feature, which the face of the perfume, model –muse Maria Carla Boscono, has in abundance. In the Eau de Parfum the delicate notes evoke an ethereal femininity through its base notes composed of rose, iris and mimosa, which are enhanced by other woody aromas like sandalwood and patchouli. The Eau de Parfum is an essence contained in an elegant square bottle with a black lacquered lid, designed by the guru, Fabien Baron. The Eau de Toilette edition embodies the same original notes but leans towards more fruity scents. Tangerine, cedar and peach can be recognised and the spicy notes of pink peppercorns enhance the mixture, which also happens to be the colour that characterises the bottle. The fragrance leaves for last the lingering notes of vanilla, laced with sandalwood.
Are you ready for this intoxicating fragrance? Between champagne, cocktail dresses and reader/cover girls –for- an -evening, the launch of the new fragrance, Dahlia Noir, was the perfect moment to remember the importance of haute couture by experiencing it once again in a contemporary and modern way. Because if its true that fashion trends come and go, then class is something that withstands the march of time. It is elegantly timeless.
