Source text - English No trip to the French capital would be complete without a little time spent sipping a drink and watching the passers-by or reading a newspaper at one of Paris’ famous pavement cafes. With more than ten thousand coffee shops to choose from in the capital, it should be easy to find the perfect resting place.
Parisian cafes tend to be known for their atmosphere and laid-back approach. Many Parisians spend hours on end sitting outside a café, and there’s no pressure to keep ordering, so it’s a relatively cheap form of entertainment too. Snack on a pastry or a cake for a real slice of French cuisine at its best.
Here is a look at some of the best pavement cafés that Paris has to offer :
Le Saut du Loup
Located inside the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and just a few steps from the Palais Royal, Le Saut du Loup has one of the most romantic terraces in all of Paris and also offers some much needed peace and quiet from the buzz of the city. Known for being elegant and comfortable, this café also serves up some excellent food and is the perfect place to enjoy a tea or coffee with a light snack in the afternoon. Gaze off into the distance and you will be able to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.

Café Charbon
Situated on the famous Rue Oberkampf, a long and narrow road that is covered with hip bars and laid-back cafes, the Café Charbon was one of the first establishments to open in this area, sparking a total transformation that has made this road one of the most fashionable in Paris. If you can get a seat on the pavement terrace then be prepared to see and be seen, as this is the ultimate spot for an afternoon of people-watching.

Conveniently located for a visit to the Place de la Bastille, this traditional pavement café is known as one of the best in the area, separating itself from numerous other cafes in the area due to the fact that it is popular with the local cool crowd and was even featured in cult French film Chacun Cherche son Chat. Keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse of Paris’ hippest young residents, known locally as the Bobo (Bourgeois Bohemians).

Instead of offering a traditional sidewalk terrace, this bar and café offers some spectacular views of Paris. Located on the butte Montmartre, this rooftop café is open until midnight every day and offers fantastic wine and cocktails so you can easily sip your beverage long into the evening as you gaze over the city and the spectacular Eiffel Tower.
