I am a professional freelance translator with extensive experience of translating legal and technical documents primarily from German into English. My specialism is IP law, including patent applications and litigation (such as notices of opposition, counter-claims, EPO/DPMA decisions and appeals) as well as court judgements, licensing agreements and contracts. Due to the diverse nature of IP law I have experience translating texts relating to a wide variety of subject areas such as chemistry, electronics, engineering and telecommunications, and I also translate a broad range of non-legal texts such as marketing copy, technical manuals, business correspondence and fiction (my translation of the chick-lit novel "Banking on a Wedding" by Nelly Berlin was published in 2016).
Prior to setting up my own business in 2013, I spent three years working as an in-house translator for an international law firm in Germany having graduated from the University of Bath with an MA (with Merit) in Translation and Professional Language Skills in 2010 and from the University of Sheffield with a BA (First Class) in Germanic Studies in 2005.
