Que isso é bossa nova que isso é muito natural..
The lyrics of João Gilberto Desafinado set out to praise the value of a melody sung out
of tune, from the heart, as if in its misalignment the music would enter into a new sonic
territory made of natural dissonances. In her latest show Desalinho, the most
recent work by London-based artist Marcia Thompson articulates a similar move
towards a different order of the visual field, where the tone is found outside
the norm. Supported by a process of thought that links the hand with an almost
Zen concept of void, she makes an art where white reigns over all sorts of artifice
and materials behave in unprecedented ways. For a number of years, Marcia's choice
of white has been a trademark of her works in a variety of mediums: from paper to
silicon and oil paint volumes, from painting frames to lacework, in which an
unorthodox interaction of materials produces unexpected visual and textural effects.
In one of the most important theoretical documents of abstract art
The Non-Objective World, Kasimir Malevich wrote:
'In the year 1913, trying desperately to free art from the dead
weight of the real world, I took refuge in the form of the square'. Malevich
interest in theosophy prompted him towards a quest of the spirit, of what he called
'a non-objective sensation and infinity'. In a similar manner, M's works seem to
aspire to recreate a sense of infinity with the simple gestures of her hand-crafted objects
and the choice of the empty square - the frame - as a container of her imagination.
In her series of works on paper, the repetition of lines and dots could be seen
to draw from minimalism and conceptualism, but somehow pervert such referents in
introducing a kind of codification that allows the emergence of individual notes
among a multitude of similar marks. Born out of patterns of thought or perhaps,
meditative exercises, the drawings evolve in sequence from uniform reiteration into
subjective representation but without referencing the world outside, and rather
echoing some internal moments of enlightenment. In this vein, the employment of a
music score as support and the introduction of gold paint in her Untitled from 2005, produce an emotional notation like
the luminosity of an abyss from whose edge we could immerse ourselves in the golden
sound of a coral reef.
Nature is addressed laterally in her intervened photograph - Untitled, 2010 -
where we see a forest through the interstices of a fence drawn on its surface with
silver pen: the natural world becomes thus filtered by the veil of subjective
perception.
In the gallery ceiling tiny canopies of lace offer shelter to our eyes, restoring
the labour of amorous women's hands to the construction of abstracts artworks. In the
wall-based pieces, the painting surface is turned into stalactite-like topography
made of sculpted silicon emerging from the lace, while in another piece, oil paint
invades the frame evoking white molluscs attaching themselves to rocks on the beach.
Desalinhos is a space of monochrome volumes and lines
that sing a soft melody of unique resonances, as in Cagean composition. A white
flora and fauna suspended in the humid light of the tropics.

A letra da canção Desafinado de João Gilberto tenta exaltar o valor de uma melodia cantada de forma destoante, com sinceridade; como que no seu desalinho, a música pudesse entrar num território sonoro feito de dissonâncias naturais. Na sua última exposição Desalinho, o trabalho mais recente da artista plástica Marcia Thompson, sediada em Londres, se articula de forma semelhante em direção a uma ordem diferente no campo visual, onde o tom é encontrado fora da norma. Sustentada por um processo de pensamento que liga a mão a um conceito quase Zen do vazio, ela produz uma arte aonde o branco predomina sobre todos os tipos de artifícios e os materiais se comportam de uma maneira sem precedentes. Durante alguns anos, a escolha de Marcia pelo branco tem sido uma marca registrada do seu trabalho, numa variedade de técnicas: do papel aos volumes de silicone e tinta à óleo, de molduras a trabalhos de rendas, nos quais uma interação não-ortodoxa de materiais produz um inesperado efeito visual e de textura.
Kasimir Malevich escreveu, em um dos mais importantes documentos teóricos da arte abstrata O mundo não-objetivo: “ No ano de 1913, tentando desesperadamente libertar a arte do contrapeso do mundo real, eu me refugiei na forma do quadrado”. O interesse de Malevich na teosofia o impeliu em direção à busca do espírito, no que ele chamou “a sensação e a infinidade não-objetiva”. De uma forma parecida, os trabalhos de M parecem desejar a recriação de um senso de infinidade com seus gestos simples nos objetos feitos à mão e na escolha do quadrado vazio - a moldura - como recipiente da sua imaginação.
Na sua série de trabalhos em papel, a repetição das linhas e pontos pode ser vista como que vinda do minimalismo e conceptualismo, mas de alguma forma corrompem tais referências, introduzindo um tipo de codificação que permite o aparecimento de notas individuais entre um sem número de marcas similares. Nascidos fora dos padrões de pensamento ou, talvez, de exercícios de meditação, os desenhos se desenvolvem em sequência: da reiteração uniforme à representação subjetiva, mas sem se referir ao mundo lá fora, e antes ecoando alguns momentos de iluminação internos. Nesta linha, o uso de uma partitura como suporte e a introdução da tinta dourada, no seu Sem título de 2005, produz uma anotação emocional como a luminosidade de um abismo em cuja beira poderíamos nos deixar absorver pelo som dourado de um recife de corais.
A natureza é abordada lateralmente na sua intervenção fotográfica - Sem título, 2010 - aonde vemos uma floresta através dos interstícios de uma cerca desenhada na sua superfície com uma caneta prateada: o mundo natural se torna assim filtrado por um véu de percepção subjetiva.
No teto da galeria, pequenos dosséis de renda oferecem abrigo para os nossos olhos, restaurando o esforço das mãos ardentes das mulheres na construção de obras de arte abstratas. Nas peças de parede, a superfície da parede se transforma numa topografia estalactítica feita de silicone esculpido emergente da renda, enquanto em outra obra, a tinta à óleo invade a moldura evocando moluscos brancos que se prendem nas pedras da praia.
Desalinhos é um espaço de volumes monocromáticos e linhas que entoam uma melodia suave de ressonâncias únicas, como nas composições de Cage. Uma flora e fauna brancas suspensas na luz húmida dos trópicos.

na hora de servir , derramar por cima um ou a metade de um vidro de leite de coco para
garantir a humidade, acrescentar um pouco de coco ralado por cima para enfeitar

1 pack/500g of tapioca flour (available in most Asian and Latin American stores)
9 tablespoon-full of sugar
1l of boiling water
1 pack/100g of freshly grated coconut – moist and sweet
2 bottles or 1 can/400ml of coconut milk
Mix the tapioca, sugar, grated coconut and half of the coconut milk
Add the boiling water slowly allowing it to raise, stirring constantly or patting it with a wooden spoon like they do in traditional broa bread recipes
Coat a hollow ring tin with some coconut milk, put the mixture into the tin and chill in the refrigerator for a few hours
To serve, pour the remaining coconut milk over the pudding to ensure moist and sprinkle it with grated coconut to decorate
