I love what I do! If I won the lottery tomorrow (which I won’t because I never play), I would not stop translating and proofreading. It has been my passion since I was 18 years old. I started studying translation at Universidad de Málaga, Spain, where I was born. After two years into the program, I decided to spend a summer in the US, in Utah. That summer I had the opportunity to volunteer translating for a religious organization, and also became acquainted with the Spanish Translation program at Brigham Young University. By now I was hooked, so I decided to leave my hometown and move to Utah to study at BYU. Best decision I ever made for my career! After graduating top of my Translation class, I was hired by a translation agency in Provo, Utah. I worked there for three years, and loved it, but decided to further my skills and education by studying a Master's degree in Translation, Subtitling and Dubbing at Universidad Europea de Madrid. Hence, I moved to Madrid while continuing to work as a freelance translator for the same company in Utah (so I got the best of both worlds). I have always believed in working hard, and even though it wasn't easy to work and study full-time, I did my best, and as a result, I was offered a position as an Associate Professor at Universidad Europea, teaching "Technology applied to Translation". I have been doing that for two years now, and I love sharing my passion for the industry with enthusiastic young translators, and helping them find their own way.
Besides translation, I have a life! Travelling, cooking, and dancing are definitely my top three. However, and I guess this brings me right back to translation, I often go to the movies (because I like it) but when I'm there I simply can't resist the temptation of correcting all the subtitle mistranslations.
When it comes to answering emails I'm pretty quick, and missing a deadline is not in my vocabulary. I work my best from 9 AM (I'm not much of a morning person) to 9 PM, with a break to eat here and there.
