English to German: DEFINITION OF FORCE General field: Science Detailed field: Physics
Source text - English A push or pull that tends to cause motion is called a force. A stretched spring exerts forces on the objects to which its ends are attached, compressed air exerts forces on the walls of its container, and a tractor exerts a force on the trailer it is pulling. Probably the most familiar force is the force of gravitational attraction exerted on every body by the earth. This force is called the weight of the body. A definite force exists even though there is no contact between the earth and the bodies it attracts. Weight as a vector quantity is directed toward the centre of the earth.
Translation - German Ein Stoß oder Zug mit der Tendenz, Bewegung hervorzurufen, wird Kraft genannt.
English to German: Network Cable and Network Connection General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: IT (Information Technology)
Source text - English The PRI (Primary Rate Interface) network interface module is designed to be CPE (Customer Premise Equipment). This means the PRI network interface module does not generate a clock signal to the network. Instead, the module derives the clock from the upstream switch or from the PBX to which it is connected. This is sometimes referred to as slave mode.
Translation - German Das PMxAs (Primärmultiplexanschluss) Netzwerkschnittstellenmodul ist als Teilnehmerendgerät (Customer Premise Equipment, CPE) konzipiert.
