Bio
US-born freelance translator based in Mexico City, with over 8-years' experience and holding a Spanish BA from Indiana University (additional coursework in International Business, Latino Studies and Latin American History) and a professional certificate in translation from New York University (coursework in financial and commercial translation). Also have completed prior independent coursework in translating contracts and, as a member of ATA and NAJIT, have attended seminars, webinars and conferences to keep up with my fields and profession (50-100 hours, annually).

My first translation experience began in 2010 when working as a former International Sales associate for an exporting company based in Monterrey, Mexico, where I had to translate (Spanish to English) and edit/proofread marketing materials (i.e. product labels, specifications and catalog) and other business documents. In this position, I also learned export-import and business terminology (sales, logistics, international commerce), as well as the agricultural industry in both Spanish and English to help reach the international organic food market. As a freelance translator since the end of 2010, I have accumulated experience in the following areas (but not limited to):

• Legal: Corporate legal texts (contracts, meeting minutes, regulations, powers of attorney, etc.), court papers (rulings, allegations, etc.) and real estate documents (lease agreements, appraisal reports, etc)
• Finance: Reports (annual reports, audit reports, financial statements, due diligence, limited reviews, audit summary memorandums, etc.), insurance, banking and accounting documents
• Business (Business proposals, presentations, letters and reports; economic development plans)
• Official documents: Academic certificates and records (i.e. transcripts), vital records (birth, death, etc. certificates), licenses (i.e. vehicle permits)
• International Trade - documents used in export and import procedures (i.e. purchase order, commercial invoice, letters of credit, bill of lading, certificate of Origin, etc.)
• Market research: Survey responses regarding products/services across different industries (dental, cosmetic, beauty, food, banking)

As a give back to the community, I also participate in volunteer capacity with English conversation clubs (helping locals improve their language skills) or translating for a non-profit organization (related to global issues). I'm also the founder and organizer of the Mexico City Brazilian Portuguese Conversation Club which started in 2015. As I am involved in different activities in Mexico City, continuously learning the Spanish language always keep me on my toes. Spanish being spoken throughout the Americas, each region has its own variation (vocabulary, meanings, etc) enriching the language. Therefore, I always give special attention to both Latin American Spanish and European Spanish with cross-cultural perspective. Given my educational background and experience living in Mexico since 2010, I am also knowledgeable of the Latin American cultures, have come to learn and love the Mexican culture and is also the way I speak. In my spare time, I like to read newspapers and books in Portuguese to keep up with the language.

I take pride in my work and assure to work very close with clients to make sure that they get the type of translation they are looking for and the highest quality. Questions, comments and negotiations as well as any consultation of collaboration are welcome. Look forward to hearing from you!
