Source text - English Atresmedia began using Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2012 to better handle spikes in traffic from its terrestrial TV channels. To support its cloud-based projects, the media group knew AWS would be best placed to continue to support its growth.
Atresmedia runs its infrastructure on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), using Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) to capture and file its data and Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) to automate administrative tasks such as database setup. This arrangement gives the media group more time to focus on Atresplayer—its main online channel—and Flooxer as it continues to grow its user base
The company also relies on Amazon DynamoDB, a flexible NoSQL database service that provides extremely low latency and scales automatically depending on capacity. Atresmedia uses it on the Flooxer platform to manage the capacity of people opening push notifications while watching TV, and to record its users’ viewing habits. “Amazon DynamoDB offers the perfect service to help us track our audience and to streamline their viewing experience,” says Fernández.
To cache data and build on its open source data stores, the company uses Amazon ElastiCache. “Thanks to Amazon ElastiCache, we are able to quickly reply to users’ requests, one of our main objectives for the year,” says Fernández. Finally, to help deliver a better viewing experience, it takes advantage of Amazon CloudFront to broadcast 4K video streaming—even with 360-degree images.

Its infrastructure now has the high levels of availability and elasticity the company needs to handle more users who are accessing its platform and being redirected to designers’ online profiles and sites. “Before choosing AWS, we worked hard to predict the incoming load and had to start months in advance to buy expensive hardware and set them up, which cost us precious time,” says Montero Parés. “Now we’re free from the constraints of data centers and can automatically scale when the load in our servers goes up.”
Furthermore, taking advantage of the platform has cut the time it takes to deploy new releases from months to hours. This was an important aim for Launchmetrics because it must continuously evolve alongside a digitizing industry. “We are always learning new ways to help fashion designers launch new products quicker, and now we have the best infrastructure to support us in our business,” says Montero Parés. And with a more efficient approach to innovation, Launchmetrics has been able to look further ahead and test new technology. “We’re looking into artificial intelligence for our next source of innovation. Specifically, we want to test image recognition, sentiment analysis, and content extraction from web pages.” By using AWS, Launchmetrics can continue to develop its unique market offering so its clients can wow the fashion industry with their products.

Y con un enfoque más eficiente en materia de innovación, Launchmetrics ha sido capaz de ir más allá y tantear las nuevas tecnologías. “Estamos experimentando con inteligencia artificial como nueva fuente de innovación. Concretamente nuestra intención es hacer pruebas de reconocimiento de imagen, análisis de opiniones y extracción de contenidos de páginas web” asegura Montero Parés.
