Table Manners and Etiquette
Much has been said and written about manners and etiquette already. And even more blunders and errors have been made. There simply is no other occasion where a lack of decent education will reveal itself more clearly than at the table. Not knowing the basic rules of etiquette is - at the least - embarrassing. Occasionally, however, it can be fatal. The infamous “Banquet of Doom”, which caused the “War of the Corned Beef”, is the most infamous one. Good table manners are no T-Energy science. Everybody should know how to behave at the table and everybody should be aware of the cultural differences to avoid unpleasant situations.
The first and most obvious rule when eating together with other people is: know what cutlery to use for which kind of food.
Meat does not require a fork. Just cut it with your knife and eat it with your hand. Forks are there to pick up small pieces of food which are too hot to touch.
If you really must use your fork and want to scratch your back, do not use the fork you are eating with. Instead, politely ask your left or right hand neighbour if he needs his fork. Only if he does indeed need it for himself are you allowed to scratch your back with your own fork.
Never clean your hands with the table cloth. There are usually cats or dogs under the tables, waiting for leftovers. Use their fur to clean your hands. If there is no animal available, you may use your clothes, hair or beard to get rid of the grease.
If you need to burp, do not burp into your food. That is considered very bad manners. Turn your head to the left or right and burp into the direction of your neighbour. If your neighbour happens to be female, excuse yourself. If he is male, lift your glass and raise a private toast to him. If it's an Orc, either beat him up... or run.
Picking your teeth with the knife is forbidden. Using the fork is not.
Giving an official toast is a delicate and complex matter. There is a predetermined order of precedence for the toasts, and even the most erudite people sometimes commit a blunder. Describing the entire process would take way too long. As a rule of thumb, the first toast always goes to the sovereign. If there is no sovereign, or if there is uncertainty about the current sovereign, the first toast goes to the noble with the highest rank. If you are guest at an Orcish dinner, it is considered impolite to not participate in the after dinner brawl. Beating each other up is considered good for the digestion. If you refuse to take part, they assume that you did not like the food. This is an insult.
Orcs never eat vegetables or plants in general. If you see something green in an Orcish meal, it is NOT salad, it is decoration. Do not eat it if you want to avoid embarrassing moments.
If you do not like your food, quietly drop it to the floor below the table. Do not put it on your neighbour's plate when he is not watching.
Minstrels singing their silly songs during a meal can be annoying. Still, it is not appropriate to attack them. Only the weak are resorting to violence! The polite person just throws some leftover food at them.
Throwing pieces of bread, grapes or other kinds of food at the people on the other side of the table is a well known and entertaining game. But don't be excessive! Always make sure that the pieces of food are no larger than a chicken or a small duck, and that the consistency is not too soft or too hard. Also, bringing small catapults for this purpose requires a prior agreement.

Первое и самое очевидное правило при совместной трапезе - это знать, какую еду какими столовыми приборами есть.
Для мяса не нужна вилка. Его следует резать ножом и есть руками. Вилки нужны для мелких кусочков, которые слишком горячи, чтобы брать их просто так.

Впрочем, даже самые эрудированные гости зачастую допускают промашку. Разобраться в очередности подчас бывает действительно сложно, но основной порядок попробуем описать. Первым всегда произносит тост правитель. Если правителя нет или есть сомнения насчет того, кто именно правитель, тост произносит самый титулованный из дворян. Следующий тост произносит хозяин стола, затем старейший гость за столом, а после него тот, у кого самая длинная и зубодробительная фамилия.
Если вы обедаете у орков, будет очень невежливо не принять участие в послеобеденной драке. Считается, что хорошая потасовка способствует пищеварению. Если вы откажетесь драться, хозяева решат, что вам не понравилось угощение, а это серьезная обида.
Орки не едят овощи и вообще растения. Если в орочьем блюде попалось что-то зеленое, это не салатик, а украшение. Не вздумайте его есть, а то осрамитесь.
Если еда вам не нравится, следует быстро и незаметно вывалить ее под стол. Ждать, пока сосед отвернется, и перекладывать недоеденное ему на тарелку - бестактно.
Менестрели, распевающие за ужином свои глупые баллады, могут изрядно подпортить аппетит. Но все же не стоит нападать на них. Только слабые прибегают к насилию! Воспитанный же гость бросит в менестреля объедками.
Бросаться друг в друга кусками хлеба, виноградом и другой едой - традиционное застольное развлечение. Но не перегните палку! Не бросайте куски больше курицы или мелкой утки и следите, чтобы они не были ни слишком мягкими, ни слишком твердыми. И помните: использовать помочи как рогатку для этой цели можно, но только по предварительной договоренности.

The skip is the captain of the Curling team. He determines the strategy and holds the broom indicating where the player throwing should aim. Usually, the skip throws the two last stones of an end.
The oldest Curling stone is from 1511 and was found in Scotland, where the first Curling Club was founded in 1716. In Central Europe, Curling history only starts in the 1950s.

Le lynx possède un odorat très développé et une vue perçante, il est capable de sentir ses proies à plus de 500 mètres, ses yeux sont six fois plus sensibles dans la pénombre que ceux de l’homme. Il chasse la nuit et somnole le jour sur une branche ou dans une cavité du rocher. Grâce à ses pieds ronds et larges il se déplace facilement dans la neige épaisse. Il chasse les petits mammifères ou les petits cervidés. Il préfère les proies fraîches mais doit parfois se contenter de manger des charognes. C’est un animal très agile qui peut faire un bond de 2 m pour attraper un oiseau qui s’envole. Le lynx habite les vastes étendues forestières, en plaine comme en montagne. Il préfère toutefois les régions accidentées qui lui procurent abri et poste d'affût. Son territoire peut atteindre plusieurs dizaines de milliers d'hectares en fonction de l’abondance du gibier. Malgré son statut d’espèce protégée, le lynx est toujours victime du braconnage. Actuellement, ce prédateur discret ne compte plus que quelques populations isolées dans les régions montagneuses.
