Bio
My name is Lalita.

I've been working as an engineer (civil/structural engineering) since December 1997. Yet, English has always become my passion since I was junior high school. I joined several english courses and accomplished them with flying colours.

When I was pursuing my bachelor degree in university, I arranged yearly international festival of kite flyers in my town and worked as a liaison officer for non-Indonesian guests for the local government tourism office. It was at the same period that I often helped my friends to do some English-Indonesian translation from textbooks as well as helped my lecturer translating his thesis and international publications. The most memorable time was in the thesis examination: I was the only student in my class who had been asked to deliver my presentation in English by my supervisor who was very proud of my English skill.

In the beginning of 2010 when I worked as a part time engineer, I decided to start fulfilling my passion in English as a freelance translator. My job as an engineer requires me to provide and review a lot of English-text documents, including correspondences, contracts, legal, specifications, procedures, management, manual guidance, etc. Having such experiences and encouragement from my English teacher, I consider myself qualified enough to be a translator.

Realizing that I didn't have such a relevant background in translation, I took legal text translation classes held by Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Atma Jaya Jakarta. I choose legal and engineering translations as my specialties because those subjects are familiar to me, particularly contract and project-technical documents. I keep learning until now (by joining/participating in group discussion, workshop, seminar, and whatsoever it is) and will never stop improving my qualifications.

As a freelance translator, I've been translating various kind of materials, namely: quality manual, risk management, training material, communication management, court document, project management, correspondences, annual report of state budget, quality plan, project specifications and agreement, notary deed, oil and gas project requirements, standard of electricity and safety, oil and gas bidding documents, etc.

For further detail, please see my resume.
