La mayoría de los casos de restenosis ocurren dentro de los nueve meses posteriores al procedimiento invasivo, ya sea de angioplastia con balón o angioplastia con stent. Los factores de riesgo más comunes son la diabetes, la angina inestable (dolor torácico que se presenta en forma irregular), el aumento de concentración de lípidos en la sangre y el diámetro o longitud de la lesión coronaria.
La restenosis puede provocar un infarto agudo al miocardio y otras complicaciones que llevan a la muerte. Entre los métodos utilizados para enfrentar la restenosis de arterias coronarias están la braquiterapia, que consiste en la descarga de radiación a través de catéter o un sistema de stent; el uso de medicamentos vía oral y la cirugía con bypass.

The majority of cases of restenosis occur within the nine months following an invasive procedure, whether it be a balloon angioplasty or a stent angioplasty. The most common risk factors are diabetes, unstable angina (thoracic pain that occurs irregularly), or an increase in concentration of lipids in the blood lipid levels, and the diameter or longitude of the coronary lesion.
Restenosis can cause acute myocardial infarction and other complications leading to death. Among the methods used to combat coronary arterial restenosis is brachytherapy, which consist of discharging radiation along a catheter or a stent system; the use of oral medications and bypass surgery.

Habiter dans un pays de neige et de glace comporte des défis qui sont de véritables privilèges. Avoir la capacité de l’affronter et d’y survivre procure un sentiment de fierté collective qu’on n’arrive pas toujours à nommer.
C’est remarquable après des jours de froid extrême ou encore au lendemain d’une grosse tempête de neige de rencontrer des gens de notre entourage et de se dire (sans mots): on a vaincu! Étrange sentiment de puissance qui vient nous rappeler notre forte constitution: nous aussi nous sommes «bâtis sur du solide». Autant que les vents et les glaces!

Living in a winter country brings challenges that are actually privileges. Having the capacity to confront and survive the season brings a sense of collective pride that cannot be described.
It’s remarkable after days of extreme cold or even the day after a huge snowstorm to come across friends and family and to think (without actually saying): we did it! A strange feeling of power reminds us of our strong constitutions: we are also “built on a solid foundation”. Just like the wind and the ice!
