Bio
TOPOLOGICAL TRANSLATION LTD.

Full-time freelance translation of Japanese into English.

I specialise in the translation of scientific materials such as medicine, astronomy, mathematics, and the environment. I have an interest in 'all things scientific', and gained a strong academic background prior to my undergraduate study of Japanese and postgraduate study of translation and interpreting. In addition, I have recently completed a degree in mathematics, studied via distance learning alongside my work, and in September 2014, began a masters in the same subject, focusing mainly on the 'pure' areas of algebra (commutative rings and fields) and analysis (functional analysis, metric spaces and measure theory).

Accuracy is important in any field, but surely in none so more than the sciences, where an incorrectly translated fact in a clinical trial report could have dire consequences. Translators can make mistakes though, ranging from basic misunderstandings, to omissions, numerical errors and more; this is a fact. My level of attention to accuracy however is unparalleled, and the reason why for a few years now, a number of agencies have entrusted me with the painstaking duty of correcting the translations of others. This same effort is, of course, applied to my own translation. Precision is paramount.

Over the past few years I have also gained a wealth of experience in many other areas, including business, logistics and manufacturing. Consequently, I would be more than willing to undertake a translation in any field you may require. Rest assured I will never commit to working on something unless I have 100% confidence in my ability to successfully translate it.

I am generally available 24/7. Time zones and weekends are no barrier to accepting or delivering work.
