ATIA certified translator from Dutch to English (1998).
About me I was born in the Netherlands but moved to Venezuela when I was 7. I Attended an English elementary school there and that was the beginning of my love for languages. Back in the Netherlands to attend High School, I took Latin, Greek, French, English and German. Learning Latin has been very valuable in learning other languages and in translation.
After two years at university I immigrated to Canada and eventually completed my education here with degrees in psychology and family studies/gerontology. I also attended proz.com webinars on various aspects of legal translation.
Translation experience Since 1996 I have worked with translation agencies and private clients in Canada, the US, and Europe on a variety of documents including immigration documents, court rulings, contracts, annual reports, and journal articles in education, healthcare, and psychology.
Editing experience As managing editor of a medical education journal, I gained experience in proofreading, editing, and formatting articles for online publication, including many written by non-native English speakers.
Publications Co-author: Carole-Lynne LeNavenec & Tina Vonhof: One Day at a Time, how families manage the experience of dementia (Auburn House 1996) Translator: Kris Verburgh: The Longevity Code (The Experiment, 2018)
