ATIA certified translator from Dutch to English (1998).

I was born in the Netherlands but moved to Venezuela when I was 7. I attended an English elementary school and that was the beginning of my love affair with languages: I spoke Dutch at home, English at school, and a smattering of Spanish with the local people. Back in the Netherlands to attend high school, I learned Latin, Greek, French, English and German. Learning Latin has been very valuable to me over the years, especially for legal and medical translation.

After two years at university I immigrated to Canada and eventually completed my university education here. I'm still fluent in Dutch but after many years living and working in Canada I prefer translating into English.

Since 1996, when my first translation job came to me via a friend of a friend, I have worked with translation agencies and private clients in Canada, the US, and Europe on a variety of documents, including court rulings, contracts, articles of association, annual reports, and journal articles in education, healthcare, and psychology.

Translating and editing for Translators Without Borders and other non-profit agencies is also a part of my work that I enjoy.

My previous experience includes working in a medical education environment, organizing events, and communicating with doctors from other parts of the world. After my retirement, I worked for several years as managing editor of a medical education journal, which involved coordinating the work flow between authors, reviewers, and editors, as well as proofreading, editing, and formatting articles for online publication.

I collaborated on two books, one as co-author:
- Carole-Lynne Le Navenec and Tina Vonhof, One Day at a Time (Auburn house, 1996), and the other more recently as translator:
- Kris Verburgh, The Longevity Code (The Experiment, 2018)
