Source text - English The European Commission has recently undertaken a consultation on a proposed recast of the legal framework in Europe for medical devices (MedDev). One of the issues highlighted in the consultation related to the criticism that existing legislation was too difficult to follow, resulting in different decisions being made at national level on whether a product was a medicinal product or a medical device. As the consultation stated, this national variation could threaten both the smooth running of the internal market and, potentially, patient safety.
Translation - Italian La Commissione europea ha recentemente avviato una consultazione su una proposta di rifusione del quadro giuridico europeo per i dispositivi medici (MedDev). Tra le questioni sollevate dalla consultazione vi è la critica secondo cui la legislazione esistente sarebbe troppo difficile da seguire, cosa che ha determinato decisioni diverse a livello nazionale riguardo alla classificazione di un prodotto come prodotto medicinale o dispositivo medico. Come ha stabilito la consultazione, queste variazioni nazionali possono minacciare sia il corso regolare del mercato sia, potenzialmente, la sicurezza dei pazienti.

Source text - French Dans le cadre du règlement financier du contrat de validation en orbite (IOV), l'industrie s'est récemment trouvée une nouvelle fois face à une impasse institutionnelle, résolue dans l'urgence et, malheureusement, toujours de manière provisoire.
Les institutions européennes et le montage entre la Commission européenne et l'Agence spatiale européenne font subir à l'industrie des risques et des contraintes tout à fait inhabituels (sur le plan tant national qu'international).
Galileo va bientôt entrer dans une phase industrielle critique concernant le choix définitif des fournisseurs retenus et la finalisation de leurs contrats.
Les enjeux seront plus considérables encore en termes d'exposition industrielle, d'emplois et, bien évidemment, de réussite du programme.
Translation - Italian Nell’ambito del regolamento finanziario del contratto di validazione in orbita (IOV), il settore industriale si è trovato ancora una volta a dover affrontare una situazione di stallo istituzionale, risoltasi con urgenza e, sfortunatamente, sempre in via provvisoria.
Le istituzioni europee e la sovrapposizione tra la Commissione europea e l’Agenzia spaziale europea costringono l’industria ad assumersi rischi e ad accettare limitazioni del tutto insoliti (sia a livello nazionale che a livello internazionale).
Il programma Galileo entrerà a breve in una fase industriale critica per quanto concerne la scelta definitiva dei fornitori selezionati e la stesura dei relativi contratti.
