On-demand training MT 101: Medical Translation – Multiple translation content and formats

On-demand training MT 102: Medical Translation – Healthcare and Health Insurance

Sep 18 MT 103: The social aspect of healthcare – language difficulties related to disease prevention and education

Medical translation will be described in terms of the diverse types of content, branches, target audiences and means of disclosure.

Medical communication is a multidimensional network of restrained or expanded groups which communicate among themselves and with the “outer world” - the resulting discourses are widely different, based on the type of content, format, the people who produce the information and their intended recipients, communicational purposes, way of communication (oral or written), jargon, genre, among others. Translator’s awareness on such contextual information is key to convey information effectively. This presentation will cover most of these aspects in a quick-view format, so that attendees can have a reference fact-sheet at hand when dealing with medical translations.
