Das Thema des Workshops sind Dokumentations- und Übersetzungsprojekte in der IT-Branche. Ich stelle die Abläufe, Möglichkeiten und Risiken im IT-Projektmarkt vor.

Ziel des Workshops: Hilfe bei der persönlichen Entscheidung, ob sich ein Einstieg in diesen Bereich lohnen kann.

Bio: Mit zehn Jahren habe ich mich ins Fach Chemie verliebt, nach der Doktorarbeit in Physikalischer Chemie 1999 wieder entliebt und einen kompletten Wechsel in die Selbständigkeit als technischer Redakteurin in der Software-Branche vollzogen. Kurz danach kam das erste rein englische Projekt. Seitdem habe ich in Dutzenden von IT-Projekten meine Kenntnisse rund um Dokumentation und Übersetzung(smanagement) eingesetzt.
In den letzten Jahren hat im IT-Projektmarkt die Nachfrage nach Redakteuren mit sehr guten Englischkenntnissen bis hin zur Anforderung „native speaker“ merklich zugenommen, daher unterstütze ich gerne interessierte ÜbersetzerInnen dabei, in den Bereich der technischen Redaktion zu gehen, ein Feld mit 80% Quereinsteigern.

Falling in love with chemistry at age 10, I fell out of it after finishing my PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1999. In the hunt for a new career path, it turned out that technical writing in the software industry is the perfect obsession for a nerdy, structure-obsessed woman. So I became a freelance technical writer. Shortly after, the first purely English project came my way. By now, I’ve sold my bilingual techwriting and translation (management) skills in dozens of IT projects.
Seeing the increasing demand in Germany for technical writers with perfect English, I’m encouraging and coaching interested translators to move into the area of technical writing, a field where 80% of the people are newcomers.
General discussions on this training
