Dear Mr. Martens,
The death of a loved one is a privileged moment to help us all prepare for own death, a task we cannot avoid, perform as team, or delegate to someone else. So the loss and the funeral and the burial and the condolences all help make death someone familiar, someone who becomes a part of our heart, someone we can welcome when he calls at our doorstep.
Personally, I have no family left and ProZ has been the discovery of a community. Though I only knew your wife through her contributions to the ProZ site, I feel the community has suffered a loss and i shall remember you both in my prayers.
From my own experience after the loss of my mother, I remember a soft sunny day in spring when I saw a child,say four or five years old, standing in front of a flower bed with intense concentration and I realised her total fascination with the unstoppable continuity of life\'s vitality.

and even though I actually never met with Monika, I sure feel as if I knew her already quite well.
She informed me about 6 weeks ago she couldn\'t make it to our Powwow in Antwerp, and now this.
Many heartfelt condolences to her husband, her family and her loved ones.

I never met Monika Martens personally, but it did not take long for us to become best friends here at ProZ. I was impressed not only with her talents that she shared with us, but above all, with her kindness and love to learn from her ProZ fellows and her love to love and respect everybody. Within such a short time she taught me a lot about these things.

I thought I was going to meet her at the POWWOW Antwerp, but I didn\'t because she couldn\'t make it...
We didn\'t know her in flesh and blood, but she was a virtual friend and much appreciated colleague. We will miss her!
