I don't know Apr 27, 2018

I would have to look it up, 3-5 years seems likely, but time passes so fast. Besides, the "biggest" one can change with one large project. Just now, the "biggest" represents 16% of my revenue, the second one about 13, the third one 10 - no large gaps.

I don't have a "biggest client". I have a few who might qualify for that title within certain limited timeframes, but on the whole, clients rise and fall like waves in the ocean.

I generally have long-time clients, and some that I thought were lost in the mists of time, suddenly reappear even after a few years.

(Why do I feel a need for nature metaphors today? Why did I feel a need to place a comma after "time"? What's in the air? Enjoy your Friday, everyone!)

In memoriam
Had one for 40 years, then it just vanished Apr 27, 2018

Most of my freelance income for over 40 years was from patent abstracts from one firm. Then they suddenly stopped without explanation or reply to emails. Now I am getting work mainly from agencies, two of which send work more frequently than the others. But as already said, one big job can outweigh everything else while it lasts. Last year I translated a novel, which kept me busy for a few months.

My most regular client is a translation agency with whom I have been working since 2011. My biggest client is a leading human rights organization with whom I have been working on several projects since 2014. I have one very dear long-standing customer for whom I have been working for over 20 years, he is no longer as regular as he used to be, and was never my biggest, but I’m very proud that after all these years we are still working together.

A couple of clients from my previous profession starting using my translation services when I set my company in 2003 - one of them is one of my main clients. It really helped the transition go smoothly for me. I am still working for them all.

They are all international organizations. My best one goes back to 1992, which I left my translation job and started working as a freelance. My second best found me in 2005.

3-5 Years of cooperation (English into Arabic vice versa) Apr 27, 2018

Language solutions that you provide for a client and making him feel that his projects already in a trustful hands expand years of cooperation and bridge it.

Just clients Apr 27, 2018

I have a number of clients I hear from whenever they need my language combination but no 'biggest' client.

I thought this was true only for "small" language combinations Apr 27, 2018

...but clearly no, because Ricky describes my experience to a T:

For ever Apr 27, 2018

Where's the "other" option?

I've been translating for my biggest client - myself - "for ever". Well, OK, no - not literally "for ever" But certainly for the past 50 years or so. Seems like "for ever"!

5 years exactly Apr 28, 2018

I've just completed 5 years with my best client in February.
I have another two good clients that have also been regular for five years, and another four great clients for 4 years. These seven clients would be enough for me and I could stop looking for new clients if I could only be sure they will last forever. But in our job, we have no guarantee.
