Finger exercise Oct 30, 2016

Hi! An interesting question! I usually heat up my room to prevent this but occassionally, especially if the heating season has not started yet, it happens to me as well. Then I do what works perfectly even in winter. I use a simple exercise - to flex (make a fist) and extend my fingers repeatedly (to pump in blood). I find it much more effective then putting them on a radiator

Half gloves Oct 30, 2016

with fingertips exposed work just fine.
If it's really freezing, portable mini-size hand warmers inserted into the palm area of the gloves work wonders.

Outside Oct 30, 2016

When doing stupid stuff outside like chainsawing, I wear gloves but we have heaters hear in Germany, and I just turn it up if needed, but I generally do not have that sort of problem - always in shorts and T-shirt, no matter what the weather.

I might have cold feet inside (and outside), but never cold hands. Anyway, my apartment has a perfect air conditioning system...

Minor addition:

About cold and warm hands, for those who are interested in learning Portuguese (Mario Chavez?), we have two opposite sayings:

1. Mãos quentes, coração frio, amor vadio (warm hands, cold heart, rogue love)
2. Mãos frias, coração quente, amor para sempre (cold hands, warm heart, long lasting love)

Wear wool Oct 30, 2016

It rarely gets that cold down here in West Cornwall, but on a really cold day, I put on my thermal undies (so alluring) and a woolly jumper on top, plus a woolly Peruvian poncho if really desperate. I thus soon feel warm - and then there's turning up the central heating - but that's so expensive!

A cup of tea solves (almost) anything Oct 30, 2016

I work next to a pellet stove: if I'm really freezing I just put on a woolly jumper and get myself a hot cup of tea. Normally it works.

Cold hands Oct 30, 2016

Unless I'm outside in winter or inside with the thermostat at 55 F, I never get cold hands.

Women experience temperature differently than men. This is no a matter of opinion; there are studies.

Finally, having one or both cold hands for no apparent external reason (cold weather) may be a sign or symptom of some other ailment. Please see your doctor, don't try to self-diagnose the problem yourself.

Your cold hands... Oct 30, 2016

are most likely not related typing or mouse work. I do both a lot on a daily basis and never get cold hands. The only time they get cold is when I am outdoor in super cold weather or touching snow without gloves on.

If it's a circulation problem, try ginko biloba drops and excercises, both general and hand excercises. Or a glass of red wine.

When I take care that the rest of my body is warm, my hands usually follow Oct 30, 2016

I make sure the rest of my body remains warm by wearing a thick sweater, not too thin trousers and warm slippers, and I sometimes put a blanket on my knees. I also get up from my chair regularly to do some household chores or take a ride on my bicycle.

I moved to where it doesn't get cold! Oct 30, 2016

In five years here my garden thermometer has never shown single figures. 10C has been the lowest ever, around 5am on a January morning. And the days we don't see at least 18-20C are rare. I don't think I've seen my office temperature below 19C. I do have an underdesk radiant heater of I think 200w but I don't recall having used it here. We also have one convector heater in the house that we use a couple of evenings a year. No aircon either as there's always enough of a breeze.
