This session was interesting, but slightly disheartening too Oct 24, 2014

It confirmed my suspicions that jobs advertised on the jobs board are aimed at translators who will work for very low rates, and the presenter of the session said that only the first few people who apply for these jobs are likely to get a response. The client/agency advertising the job will accept the first person who comes along with a very cheap rate. Useful information - I won't be bothering to apply for any of those jobs anymore.

The other thing that the presenter emphasised was that the only good way of getting work through ProZ is through being contacted directly by clients who find you through a directory search. He advocated a passive approach - wait for the client to find you. However, he stated that in order to stand a chance of being "found," it is essential that you appear on page one of the directory, and this is achieved by accumulating sufficient kudoz points in your specialization. Obviously, the profile needs to be excellent too, so that when you have managed to get your profile onto the first page, the potential client will be impressed enough to offer work.

Avaliability of these valuable materials Oct 29, 2014

Hi Drew,

I apologize for asking this question so late.
Could you please tell me which on-demand videos from this event expire today and which are available any longer?
When possible, how much longer?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I can't see my certificate in my profile (even if I expand the profile view). Can you please see if there is a problem?

Thank you.
