As I reply every time this question is asked, my clients are all juristic persons (companies), and it is only possible to meet natural persons, so the question does not apply to me.

Still have met only one of my clients in person.
Maybe next time this same question is being asked it will render a different result.

From my 30 years of experience as a translator I observed: The more you met your clients in person the better your rate(you can prove it).

Then again I've never been to Cyprus...
FWIW all my clients are companies and I've met most of them in person, it's not strictly necessary but I find it does help cement the relationship

Now and then I meet private people who ask me to translate e.g. a book for them, but generally my clients are international agencies and I have never met any of them.
However, I think I mentioned this before, but for me it is not so much meeting the individual PM or even the owner, but I would find it interesting to visit and see the standard of their premises and whole setup, how many they are, how well they are organized, their workflow and expertise etc.

Yes, almost all of them since they are located in Japan, and this is how we do things over here as I, too, have stated in previous polls.
And, like Chris says, it does create a stronger bond and hopefully the customer/client will feel more inclinded to remember me when they are contemplating who to outsource big lucrative projects to. This is why I schedule meetings for late afternoon so that we can go out for a jar or to afterwards, which does help grease the tracks.  ... Companies employ natural persons, yes, their proprietors and directors are natural persons, yes, if they appoint agents and representatives, these could also well be natural persons, and you can certainly meet all of these, but the company itself is an abstract entity and you cannot meet it.

I make an effort to go to meet my customers in person. Sometimes takes a few years, but it is worth it.

Quite a few. Most of my clients are direct rather than agencies, and within physically reachable distance.

We usually meet up with colleagues from global manufacturing clients before agreeing a complex and/or lengthy contract with them. This helps us make sure we get things exactly right for them - it's invaluable to gain insights into customers' views, motivation and preferences. Oddly enough, although we do work for a few carefully chosen agencies around the UK, and with some have had good relationships for more than 10 years, we have never met any face-to-face!

If the opportunity arises (we coincide in the same city, we both happen to be at the same events, or one of us expresses the desire to arrange a meeting), I always take it. Meeting clients definitely reinforces the relationship in a positive way, as well as assuring the client that you are indeed an actual person and not just a robot with a name and an email address.
