Totally new to the business, very interested..., not sure where to start from Mar 9, 2011

I am a bilingual woman, who has lived in the UK for 22 years. I'm now back in Italy doing some translaring for an artist, explaining his work. I also have a part time job with a German Engineering Company, where I do some technical translating.
I really am interested in joining your team and I find the type of work very challanging...

The only problem is I really don't know where to begin.., not having really done any freelance work before. Also I don't hide my ignorance related to computer jargon...
Having said so, please if I could have some insight to how or where to begin.., I would be very gratefull.
Hoping for an answer, I'm thanking you in advance..
All the best

Hello Anna,

Thank you for your interest in the Easy & Fun Project Management for Freelancers Webinar. This 90-minute hands-on workshop provides simple and fun ways to manage your projects. At the completion of the workshop you will have acquired a fail-safe method of organizing your workload, by setting up a repeatable process, learning to focus on the essential aspects of your job, and helping you acquire skills to set reasonable priorities as well as long-term goals.

Please check the Prerequisites needed for this webinar and take into account that every registered and paid user will receive handouts after the training along with unlimited access to the webinar video. Also, take advantage of the Q&A part of the course.

More about business issues and getting established tips please find in the ProZ.com Translation Article Knowledgebase, http://www.proz.com/translation-articles/categories/Business-of-Translation-and-Interpreting/ . You can ask questions in the related forum too, http://www.proz.com/forum/15

Since you are starting as a freelancer I assume it will be important for you to know more about privacy and confidentiality in the translation industry. Therefore please note that there will be a training dedicated to this topic in about two weeks, http://www.proz.com/translator-training/course/4315 . You will learn what to do to assure your clients that you truly understand their need for confidentiality and that privacy is of the outmost importance for you when offering translation and interpretation services. Apply specific techniques to guard the disclosure of information contained in your client’s original documents or conversations, and let your clients know you go the “extra mile” to guard their privacy.

I hope you will find the training and materials useful for your business. Please do not hesitate to ask any training related questions here in the forum and please refer any website related questions to site staff, http://www.proz.com/support/

Good luck with training and have a sunny spring day!

My bests,
Helen

No recorded video for this one? Mar 13, 2012

I have paid and registered for this webinar, but wasn't able to attend it. Recently, when doing an audit of the CPD I have paid for in 2011, I discovered I never got a recording, nor a link to it, from PROZ organisers. I am sure this can be fixed, but I can't find the link to the video myself anywhere on the website.

Thank you.

Sam
