Since much of the time wasted on this site is used up in bemoaning this or that bottom rate offer in the job section, I think that the site should offer as a feature a precompiled form to be used by all those who spot such offers and want to vent about them.
It could be something like this:
I've just this an offer for an (enter a language pair) translation on the jobs sections at a rate of (enter a rate), and I'm shocked!
I think that ProZ should (choose one of the following options)
Forbid outsourcers from posting such (choose one of the following: outrageous / vile / shameful / rock-bottom offers
Ban from the site outourcers that post such (choose one of the following: outrageous / vile / shameful / rock-bottom offers
Impose a minimum rate of (enter a rate) a word for outsourcers
Prevent outsourcers from posting any rate
Other (enter other action)
Of course, this would not have any effect whatsoever on the rates offered in the jobs section, but since these ritual indignation messages would now be quicker to write, translators on ProZ would benefit, by saving some time, which they could then devote to some more useful activity.

New feature

I've just _noticed_ this offer for an (enter a language pair) translation on the jobs sections at the _unprofessional_ rate of (enter a rate).
I think that ProZ should (choose one of the following options)
* Invite/Forbid outsourcers from posting such (choose one of the following: outrageous / vile / shameful / _unprofessional_ / rock-bottom offers * Ban from the site outourcers that post such (choose one of the following: outrageous / vile / shame... See more

My suggestions in your text. But this "feature" would depend on the willingness of the organisators... we would, in other words, depend from them. Could you think of a way to prevent this? Maybe we can find one.
I am thinking about the possibility to put near to my name in my profile a tag of this kind "Declining unprofessional requests". As a matter of fact, I think I will put it in my profile right now. ▲ Collapse

I suggest taking this one step further and creating a separate website with similar forms for world hunger, human trafficking and numerous other issues that bother people. Talk all you want about starving children, if you must, but nobody will get better nourished as a result, right? Admit it, it's everybody's dream to live in a world where nobody wastes time caring.

Learing to care about yourself
Feb 15, 2010
You can take care and you indeed will take care very well and seriously of others if you first learn to take care very well of yourself. Learning about your own needs and how to protect them, you will understand much better what it means to live in circumstances which put people in the complete impossibility to take care of themselves. You will understand that they litterally depend on your help, on the help of others.
