Hi,

Has anybody tried to translate Wikipedia pages using a CAT Tool?

If you follow the recommended translation process described on the Wikipedia website, it seems to imply that the translation should be done directly on the relevant "edit" page, i.e. by typing in the target text and resetting all the links and tags manually... which puts me off a little bit...

Of course there' should always be the option of copying out the source page in txt format, running it through your usual CAT tool and pasting the result into the "edit" page of the target Wikipedia page... which still leaves a lot of links and tags to edit manually I think...

...unless somebody on ProZ has already worked out a good way to do that (I've run a search through the forums but have not found answers).

Thanks for any help,

Cagou

Of course there' should always be the option of copying out the source page in txt format,

OmegaT will do that automatically.

But the rest...

running it through your usual CAT tool and pasting the result into the "edit" page of the target Wikipedia page...

will be the same, since Wikipedia has no import interface.

Just use Google Translate Feb 11, 2011

Google Translate includes some special features for Wikipedia translation, I would just use that.
